AUDIO Grammy Awards 2024: Singer SZA has the most nominations on a female-dominated list

The versatile artist SZA has the most nominations at the Grammy awards – nine, ahead of music industry heavyweights such as Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus and Billie Eilish, on a list dominated by women and the blockbuster “Barbie”, reports Reuters.

The winners will be announced during the awards gala that will take place on February 4.

SZA, 34, whose real name is Solána Imani Rowe, was nominated for album of the year with SOS and record of the year and song of the year for the song “Kill Bill”. The artist was also nominated in several categories dedicated to pop, melodic rap, progressive and traditional R&B genres.

The song “Kill Bill”, also nominated in the “best R&B performance” category, is named after the two-part film directed by Quentin Tarantino, and the lyrics talk about the murder of an ex-partner and his girlfriend.

In the “album of the year” category, along with “SOS” by SZA, the records “Midnights” by Taylor Swift, “Endless Summer Vacation” by Cyrus, “World Music Radio”, by Jon Batiste, ”the record”, by boygenius, ”Did you know that there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvd”, by Lana Del Rey, ”The Age of Pleasure”, by Janelle Monae and ”GUTS”, by Olivia Rodrigo.

Victoria Monet is in second place with seven nominations, including best new artist and album of the year, as well as best R&B song for On My Mother”.

Phoebe Bridgers, in addition to the nomination for the duet with SZA in the song “Ghost in the Machine”, obtained six other nominations as part of the band boygenius, where she has colleagues Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus.

Olivia Rodrigo received six nominations, and her hit “vampire” was nominated for “record of the year”, “song of the year” and “best pop solo performance”.

Country star Brandy Clark, Billie Eilish, Cyrus and Swift received a total of six nominations.
