Exciting duels in the semifinals of the Billie Jean King Cup

The Czech Republic and Slovenia have qualified for the semi-finals of the Billie Jean King Cup (formerly FedCup) final tournament, following Friday’s results in Seville.

The Czech Republic and Slovenia qualified for the semi-finals of the Billie Jean King Cup

11-time winners of the competition, the Czech Republic prevailed over Team USA, 2-1, in a Group A duel.

Danielle Collins defeated Katerina Siniakova, score 6-3, 6-2, but the Czechs equalized through Marketa Vondrousova: 6-1, 6-1 vs. Sofia Kenin.

The Europeans booked their tickets for the penultimate act of the competition after the doubles match, where Katerina Siniakova and Barbora Krejcikova got past the pair of Danielle Collins / Taylor Townsend, score 6-3, 7-5.

Also on Friday, Slovenia were beaten 2-1 by Kazakhstan, but advance thanks to more sets won in Group B.

• The 2022 finalists (Switzerland and Australia) were eliminated in the group stage this year.

The final tournament of the Billie Jean King Cup takes place from November 7-12, in Seville, and is played on indoor hard.
